The Planning Department oversees the development of the Town's Comprehensive Plan, Zoning By-laws (Zoning Code) and Design Guidelines.
Planning staff is also responsible for administering land development applications to the Planning Board. Applications to the Zoning Board of Appeals are now handled by the Building Department.
The 2011 Local Comprehensive Plan was approved at May Town Meeting. The Planning Board is now working on implementation of the plan.
