HARWICH COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING

 

SEPTEMBER 7, 2016

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chair Adrienne Johnson at 9:30.

 

Attendance: Adrienne Johnson, Joe Johnson, Ralph Smith, Lee Culver, Mike Smith, Jim Mangan, Richard Waystack & Barbara-Anne Foley and Friends President Jack Brown

 

Minutes: Richard Waystack moved to accept minutes as written and Ralph Smith seconded.

 

Treasurer’s Report: The budget was reviewed.

 

 

The COA board voted to support the Friends efforts to make funds available. Rich Waystack recused himself, the board voted unanimously to support.

 

Director’s Report: Barbara-Anne Foley stated the Volunteer Cookout was very much appreciated by the Volunteers. The Police Department and Fire department and Fire Association members were there to help cook and serve. A fall event for volunteers is being planned.

COA Board and Director will meet with the BOS for the yearly overview on September 19th.

The COA is holding a Housing Summit on October 3 from 10-12.

On October 17 a flu clinic is being held for staff only. Emergency Management Team will use this day as a mini drill.

Two focus groups will meet for program ideas on October 24th at 10:00 and 5:30.

Many volunteers are need for the Emergency Management team for the election on November 8.

Friends Report: President Jack Brown reported the Friends of the COA raised $1,000 on a quilt drawing donated by the Cape Cod Quilters.

Jack Brown reported their board is continuing to work on funding for seniors’ needs such as: meals programs, gift cards, mini-bus, socializing efforts, medical equipment, emergency assistance, etc.

 

Jack also stated the board hopes to have a mini-bus again in a few months.

 

Rich Waystack moved to adjourn and Ralph Smith seconded at 10:00.

 

The next meeting will be held in Room #5 at the Community Center at 9:30 on October 5, 2016.
