HARWICH CULTURAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, April 12, 2018 @ Harwich Community Center

Present members: Rosanne Shapiro, Rose Ann Clarke, Joan Sacchetti, Tina Games, Larraine Bossi, Debbie Ferry, and visitor: Sharon Anderson
Absent notices: Shay Mitchell, Rosann Donahue

Special Visitor: Sharon Anderson (prospective member)

The meeting was called to order at 4:34 PM by Tina Games, Chairperson.

Secretary’s Minutes for March 15, 2018 were reviewed, approved, and accepted with first motion by Rose Ann Clarke and seconded by Debbie Ferry.

The Financial report was presented as unchanged since March with no transactions this past month by Joan Sacchetti, Treasurer. Motion to accept by D. Ferry and second by R. Clarke.
T. Games, Chairperson reported she requested an increase in the HCC budget allotment from the town from $3,000 to $3,600 which was approved by the Town Finance Committee and Harwich Selectmen. The Town Meeting will have a final vote on May 7th.

Old Business:
• Thank you email from Jen Walter, grant recipient for The Language of Dance was acknowledged.
• Monomoy Regional Middle School’s request to modify their original proposal was approved after discussion, motion by D. Ferry, 2nd by J. Sacchetti with one abstaining vote.
• T. Games, Chairperson, reported on her attendance at the MASS Cultural Council Institute in Worcester on March 17th. Harwich’s commitment to develop a compact relationship with the Mass Cultural Council was recognized. Grant awardees from across the Commonwealth provided diverse entertainment for participants.
New Business:
• A kick-off reception for the MCC Cultural Compact with Harwich is in the planning stages with date TBD.
• HCC logo ideas were presented. S. Mitchell worked with a graphic design student from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School. After discussion, the members selected three for the design-student to revise for a second review.
• Grant Reception Sub Committee with Debbie Ferry as chair, and Rosanne Shapiro and Rose Ann Clarke as members are planning the reception at the Harwich Cultural Center, on May 31st.
• The Fundraising Subcommittee projects are progressing. The Harwich note cards will be revisited in September with our visitor’s suggestion that we include the new HCC logo on the back of the Cards.
• The Portuguese Riviera trip, November 1-9, 2018 flyer will be distributed to community meetings & locations. Email distribution will be sent to previous HCC travelers.
• Announcement: ART WEEK @ Harwich Cultural - April 27th thru May 6th.

Meeting was adjourned @ 5:55PM. With motion from R, Clarke, 2nd by D. Ferry.
