We would like to take this opportunity to thank the taxpayers of Harwich for the new Public Safety Facility. It is wonderful and we hope you all had the opportunity to attend the open house and cookout held there recently. Everyone is having a hard time making ends meet these days, which means there are more people needing help, more situations that call for intervention. The Harwich Police Association prides itself on recognizing where our help is needed and how best to make someone’s situation better. As always, we like to give you a list of some of the places where the funds, you so generously provide, have been used.
THIS YEAR, FOR OUR OFFICERS:
We funded a life insurance policy for each and every member of the Department. All of the workout room equipment for our new Public Safety Facility was purchased with funds provided by the Police and Fire Associations. We support the Harwich Police Department softball team and the annual Department Children’s Christmas Party.
FOR THE YOUTH OF OUR TOWN:
We provide funds to Harwich Little League, the Non-Alcoholic After Prom Party, the Marquis All-Star Cheering Team, Cub Scout Pack #76, the Harwich/Chatham High School Hockey Team, the Harwich Junior Theater, the National Leadership Conference, Cape Cod Eagles Baseball trip to Cooperstown, NY, Fred Thatcher memorial Scholarship Fund, Angelo Champ Scholarship Fund at Cape Tech, Nicholas Xiarhos Scholarship Fund, the Charles Moore Skating Arena, and the Cape Cod Ecumenical Youth Ministry.
FOR THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF OUR TOWN:
We provide funds to the Harwich Community Learning Center After School Program, as well as the Summer Program for grades K-7, the Harwich Community Partnership Council for Early Childhood Preschool Program and Scholarships in the amount of $10,000.00 for graduating students from Harwich High and Cape Cod Tech.
FURTHER FUNDING IN THE COMMUNITY:
Donations were made to the Harwich Conservation Trust, the Lower Cape Outreach, the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless, the Cape Verdean Multicultural Golf Tournament, HECH Children’s Center, Harwich Mariner’s Yearbook, Friends of Independence House of Hyannis, Hospice of Cape Cod, James McPhee Memorial Golf Tournament, Jimmy Fund PAN-Mass Challenge, Walk for Breast Cancer, Cape Cod Red Cross, Hospice of Cape Cod, National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund. We also supported the HECH Walk with Love Housing for the Homeless, the Jimmy Fund Teen Resources Clinic, and The Harwich Fire Association Golf Tournament.
We realize with this economy you may not be making contributions this year, and if that’s the case, we thank you for all you have done in the past to help, but if you are, we hope you will consider us worthy of your consideration. Please help us continue to help many others in the town, our town. Please be as generous as you can. Every dollar counts! Your donation is tax deductible. Your cancelled check is your receipt. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely Sergeant Adam E. Hutton-President Harwich Police Association
