Four console positions are included in the new room to allow for future growth, major incidents, training, and support.  The room is equipped with acoustics that reduce sound in the room.

The Harwich Police Communications Division has the responsibility to staff and answer, on a 24-hour basis, the telephone lines and walk in traffic to the Harwich Public Safety Station. This includes 911 emergency calls. It is also the duty of the Communications staff to dispatch appropriate personnel and apparatus to calls for service; as well as serve as a support for information and resources to the police officers.

 

The Harwich Police Communications Division is responsible for taking and dispatching all police related calls, all fire and EMS related calls that are received are then transferred to the Harwich Fire Department for service.

 

The Communications Department employs 5 full-time employees and is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

 

Sgt. Peter Petell and Lt. Adam Hutton are the supervisors of this division.
