Firearms Licensing Information (New Issue)

Appointments are required for new issue firearms licenses.

Please contact the Harwich Police Department Records Department to make an appointment 508-430-7541, listen to the prompt and choose the option for firearms licensing. 

Please download the attached application, complete the application and bring with you to appointment for your firearms license along with the following:

  • a valid Massachusetts ID;
  • your payment in the form of a check or money order made out to the Town of Harwich; and
  • your current LTC or FID (for renewal) or Firearms Basic Safety Course (for an initial issue) whichever is applicable.

Digital photos and fingerprints will be taken during the application process.

Firearm Fees as follows:

Firearms Identification Card-under 18 YOA                $  25.00
Renewal applicants over the age of 70                       $      .00
Retired law enforcement personnel                            $  25.00

Please bring payment in the form of a check or money order made out to “Town of Harwich”.

Firearms Registrations, Transfers and Transactions: 

Massachusetts General Law c. 140, §§128A and 128B, requires all individuals who sell, transfer, inherit, or lose a firearm to report the sale, transfer, inheritance, or loss of the firearms to the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services Firearms Records Bureau (FRB). This on-line system will allow you to report the sale, transfer, inheritance, or loss/theft data electronically to the FRB.
