Mandatory Outdoor Watering Ban

save water

Effective August 1, 2022

Due to worsening drought conditions, low water pressure complaints, and the Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Level 1 Drought declaration for the Cape Cod region, the Harwich Board of Water & Wastewater Commissioners have implemented a mandatory outdoor water ban* effective August 1, 2022, until further notice, to help ensure an adequate water supply for fire protection and health and safety needs.

*Hand watering is allowed between the hours of Midnight to 8am and 5pm to 9pm. Exceptions to the restrictions include health and safety, agriculture and livestock, and core functions of a business, such as landscape nursery centers. Private well users are also asked to voluntarily participate, as wells draw water from the same water source on Cape Cod.

Should restrictions change, notifications will be posted to the public. Further details are available on harwichwater.com. To report a violation, go to harwichwater.com. Thank you for your cooperation.
