HARWICH CULTURAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, May 10, 2018 @ Harwich Community Center

Present members: Rosanne Shapiro, Rose Ann Clarke, Joan Sacchetti, Tina Games, Larraine Bossi, Debbie Ferry, Shay Mitchell.      Absent notices:  Rosann Donahue

The meeting was called to order at 4:35 PM by Tina Games, Chairperson.

Public Comment & Announcements:  Harwich Chamber of Commerce Magazine article highlights the Cultural Center and mentions the Cultural Council and Cultural Compact.

Secretary’s Minutes for April 12, 2018 were reviewed, approved, and accepted with one correction of the spelling of Rosanne Shapiro’s name; first motion by R. Shapiro and seconded by R. Clarke.

The Financial report was presented by Joan Sacchetti, Treasurer.  $7600 in encumbered funds; available cash is $2179.74.  On January 1, 2019, $4400 will be transferred to our funds by the Mass Cultural Council - and $3600 will come from the Town of Harwich after July 1. Motion to accept by R. Clarke and second by D. Ferry.

Old Business: Harwich Town Meeting passed Article 61 to grant HCC $3600 for FY19.

  • Save the Date HCC reception invitations have been sent to 2018 grant awardees.
  • Harwich Cultural Center ART WEEK publicity and promotion was supported by the Mass Cultural Council.

New Business: A kick-off reception for the MCC Cultural Compact with Harwich is in the planning stages with date TBD.

  • HCC logo has been finalized. $60 will be paid to Cape Cod Tech Graphic Arts Club.
  • Grant Reception Subcommittee report with Debbie Ferry and Rosanne Shapiro as co-chairs. Reception at the Harwich Cultural Center Library on May 31st 5-7 PM.  Discussion of logistics and entertainment by grantees.
  • The Fundraising Subcommittee projects are progressing.  The Harwich note cards will be revisited in September. The Portuguese Riviera trip, November 1-9, 2018 and May 2019 trip to Budapest, Vienna & Prague flyers will be distributed to community meetings & locations.  Email distribution will be sent to previous HCC travelers. D. Ferry spoke at the Newcomers’ Club. We plan to have a table at the Harwich Port stroll nights. Tina will include this information during her Channel 18 interview.
  • Next meeting: June 14, 2018 @ 4:30PM at Harwich Community Center.

Meeting was adjourned @ 5:55PM. With motion from T. Games, 2nd by S. Mitchell.
