Homeless for the Holidays
Join Harwich Firefighters and Police Officers in raising awareness for individuals and families in need this holiday season.
Firefighters and Police Officers will "Go Homeless" for 103 consecutive hours, camping out in Brooks Park, collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toy's for Tot's program, and non-perishable food items for the Family Pantry of Cape Cod
When: December 9-13, 2015
Where: Brooks Park
Harwich Center
Hours: Drop off hours between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM
Background: In 2002, Bourne Firefighter Craig Poirier wanted to bring attention to families in need in the local community. He decided the best way to do this was to camp out and collect donations of food and toys to bring some joy to people who had fallen on hard times. After 14 years, this small start has grown into Fire and Police departments all over Cape Cod joining the effort to raise awareness and collect donations for their local towns and villages.
