TOWN OF HARWICH

By-Laws/Charter Review Committee

MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, February 9, 2016 @ 6:30 pm

Town Hall Library

 

 

In attendance:  Anita Doucette, Don Howell, Katie O’Sullivan, Deborah Sementa. Absent: Bob Hartwell.

 

Call to Order

 

Chairman Howell called the meeting to order @ 6:34pm.

 

Approval of Minutes

 

Minutes from the January 12, 2016 meeting were approved.

 

Old Business

 

Chairman Howell informed the committee that he had spoken with the town manager regarding Kopelman & Paige’s (K&P) suggested Charter language changes. After discussion and review of these suggested changes, the Committee agreed on several modifications that make the changes clearer. To make the amendments easier to follow on the Warrant, the Committee agreed that the amendments be presented sequentially by Chapter section. Don will rearrange and add Chapters to the K&P recommendations and will send to the town administrator’s office by February 12 for inclusion in this year’s Warrant.

 

New Business

 

Deb will send the Public Hearing notice for the suggested Charter amendments to the Cape Cod Chronicle so that it will be published at least two weeks prior to scheduled Public Hearing on March 15, 2016.

 

Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 15, 2016 @ 6:30pm in the Small Meeting Room followed by a Public Hearing beginning @ 7:00pm.

 

Meeting adjourned at 7:28pm.
