Members Present: Lee Culver, Bill Griswold, Ralph Smith

Also Present: Carolyn Carey, Community Center Director, and Guest: Richard Gunderson

 

I.Meeting called to order at 10:00AM

Motion by Mr. Griswold to approve Minutes of October 10th Meeting, seconded by Mr. Smith.

 

II.Report from COA by Ralph Smith

A.There is a new person doing the outreach program, they are doing a good job and are very involved with the program.

B.The COA had held two seminars on clutter control (Nov. 6th & 13th)

C.All other programs through the COA are going well.

 

III.Report from Recreation by Lee Culver

A.Extended Saturday evenings in the Gym have begun.

B.Mention of additional family programs for the Rec Dept.

C.Mr. Smith asked for clarification on who sets up the gym schedule. Lee Culver informed him that the schedule goes through Eric Beebe.

IV.New Business

A.The Veterans Affairs office is now in the building. It has not been without some glitches, and is currently in an adjustment period between COA staff and the new VA office.

1.The VA office has been very busy.

2.Ms. Carey proposed a welcome party for Will Remillard  (head of the VA office). Mr. Remillard he would let Ms. Carey know what date a party would work for his schedule.

V.Old Business

A.The committee went over Ms. Carey’s goals for clarification on what was on her evaluation. The board asked to clarify #5 of the goals (goals listed on next page)

B.The committee also asked for figures to be brought for the next meeting as to how many people are using the Weight Room.

1.Mr. Gunderson is in favor of expanding the Weight Room to unused space on the first floor, as well as to change the name of the Weight Room.

 

 

 

 

         Goals

1.Provide additional programs and services to the Community and utilize the building to its maximum potential (veterans programs)

2.Explore and develop a plan for the Community Center basement for the Town of Harwich – (Public Records Storage)

3.Provide on line Charge payments – credit card services for customer satisfaction.

4.Develop a 5 year long range plan for the building.

5.To research and develop the expansion and use of all possible space within the Community Center (move weight room out in foyer area)

  

VI.Director’s Update

Director gave updates on successful programs: the Halloween Party, the Flu Clinic, the Bean Town Medium, and the election.

 

A.Both passport agents passed their yearly renewal training.

B.A request has been made to have alcohol allowed in the building. The committee requested that more information be brought to the next meeting.

C.A resident is seeking information about a brick she purchased through Youth and Rec. Lee Culver will look into it through Jane Healey.

 

 

VII.Other

A.The committee asks that the Center goes through Sean Libby to discuss leaks in the gym and to make plans to get that fixed.

B.Lee Culver asks for cost analysis on fees charged in the building.
