HARWICH COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING

 

DECEMBER 7, 2016

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chair Adrienne Johnson at 9:30.

 

Attendance: Adrienne Johnson, Joe Johnson, Lee Culver, Richard Waystack, Mike Smith, Jim Mangan

& Barbara-Anne Foley

Guest: Arthur Bodin, Chair Housing Committee

 

Absent: Ralph Smith

 

Minutes: Mike Smith moved to amend minutes to read November 2, 2016, Rich Waystack seconded the motion. Lee Culver moved to accept minutes as amended and Rich Waystack seconded.

 

Treasurer’s Report: The budget was reviewed.

 

Director’s Report: Barbara-Anne Foley introduced Arthur Bodin to the Board. Mr. Bodin spoke of meeting with the BOS and Housing Committee. He explained that senior housing is the largest issue. The committee is looking at the Middle School and projects like Pine Oaks. He suggested the COA board appoint a liaison to the Housing Committee. Ralph Smith has offered to be the liaison. Mr. Bodin stated that there is a huge need for rentals in Harwich.

Barbara-Anne reported on the new budget. Mike Smith made a motion to support the budget, Rich Waystack seconded.  The vote was unanimous.

The board agreed to have the next Housing Summit on January 30, 2017.  A discussion was held on changing the format and holding smaller ones once a month.

The focus group meeting went well with many ideas brought forward. A summary of the ideas is going into the newsletter for feedback.

The need for a front desk receptionist was discussed.

 

Rich Waystack moved to adjourn and Joe Johnson seconded at 10:55

 

The next meeting will be held in Room #1 at the Community Center at 9:30 on February 1, 2017.
