Harwich Finance Committee Meeting Minutes Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 6:30pm Harwich Community Center, Rm 3 100 Oak St., Harwich, MA Members Present: Jack Brown (Chair); Dana DeCosta; Jon Chorey; Mark Ameres; Edward McManus Members Absent: Laurie Gillespie Lee Others Present: I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:38pm by Mr. Brown. II. Topic for Discussion and Vote A. Review and approve Memo to Selectmen on Proposed Salaries for Certain Elected Officials and authorize Chair to sign and forward memo to Selectmen. DeCosta reviewed the contents of the Memo which introduce proposed wording for the article to appear on the May 2018 Annual Town Meeting warrant. Specifically, the memo outlines specific language for the proposed Article which is less restrictive than customary wording in order to provide voters an opportunity to make changes to the recommended amount. The wording of the article is based on input from the Moderator. Discussion: DeCosta reiterates that while figures may be further discussed and even adjusted at Town Meeting and beyond, this memo represents an important step to begin the conversation which should originate from the Finance Committee. On a motion by Mark Ameres, seconded by Jon Chorey, the Committee is asked to authorize and direct the Chairman to sign the Memo to Selectmen on Proposed Salaries for Certain Elected Officials and forward it to the Board of Selectmen. 3 in favor, none opposed, 1 abstention from Ed McManus and 1 recusal from Jack Brown.
