Members Absent:   Cam Smith, Steve Root, and Daniel Hall

Others Present:  John Rendon, Harbormaster, James Luce, and Marie Hickey, Board Secretary

Minutes:  Motion made by Tom Themistos to approve the Minutes of 5-20-2015 with minor edits.  Seconded by Mort Terry.  All in Favor.

Consent Agenda:  Nothing this month

Financial Report YTD & Monthly:  Discussed and copy included with Minutes

New Business: 

1. Request from Clem Kacergis for informal discussion about his boat’s classification.

Mr. Kacergis was not present.  Chairman Hart requested a motion to continue to a future meeting.

Motion made by Tom Themistos to continue discussion regarding Mr. Clem Kacergis’ request regarding his boat’s classification to a future meeting when he is present.  Seconded by Mort Terry.  All in Favor.

1. Request by Matt Hart for discussion and potential vote for an addition to the HMP Temporary Dock Fees; to include a $7.00 rate for up to two hours for all boats with a valid Waterways User Sticker.

• Comparison of charges made by other Town Marinas on the Cape – Harbormaster, Rendon feels Harwich is in alignment with other towns.
• Issues regarding complaints from users.
• Impact on ticketing office and restaurant.
• Issues regarding resident and nonresident.

Old Business:

1. Status of Wychmere Harbor Docks:

John Rendon reports that the project looks terrific; high quality of work; some change orders; weather caused some delays; new good timber ladders under construction; some impact on boats with inner harbor moorings; water, power, and concrete work close to being done; trying to get county in to dredge – delayed due to weather (Wychmere Harbor Club interested in paying for dredging to speed up process).

1. Status of Saquatucket Design:

John Rendon reports funding for the design approved at Town Meeting. He is working with the Town Engineer; Issues regarding Downy Property Trust expiration and use discussed; Two Phases for Saquatucket Design (Phase I. – Harbor and needs of Harbormaster) Phase II. – Maintenance Garage.

1. Status of next step at Allen Harbor Dock/Parking area:

Parking lot at Allen Harbor, before Board of Health because of Restroom, approved. Single unisex room; going out to bid; anticipate having parking lot done in the fall.

Monthly Reports:     

            Board of Selectmen – None

Harbormaster:

• Dredging of Allen Harbor entrance channel schedules for after July 4^th.
• Regarding boat fire (reported in newspaper – ¼ mile outside channel of Saquatucket Harbor).  Mr. Rendon reported he was unavailable due to his daughter’s wedding), but he reports that his Deputy responded very well; Fire Department put out the fire promptly; Coast Guard assisted in rescue of the sail boat.
