This is the site of the first Methodist Church in the town and probably the oldest existing cemetery with the possible exception of the old one at Harwich Center. The church was built in 1799 and used until 1811. As fishing replaced farming for a living, the population in this section moved towards the sea where a new Methodist Church was built with its graveyard. In 1915 the town placed 3 granite posts around the yard to mark its boundaries. In the early 1960's it was surrounded by a rail fence placed there by the town at the request of the Harwich Historical Society. Over a hundred mounds from early burials can still be seen. Some have boulders.
