MASK ADVISORY

ADVISORY RECOMMENDED USE OF MASKS

Effective: December 29, 2021

Whereas, COVID-19 is a highly contagious and potentially fatal respiratory disease, and cases including its variants are on the rise in Harwich, and to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

1.      The Harwich Board of Health hereby advises the use of masks or face coverings, as noted.

a.       When social distancing of 6’ cannot be maintained at an indoor location that is open to the public.

b.      In addition to physical distancing, and in an effort to protect public health, all persons regardless of vaccination status are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while indoors on the premises of a business, place of assembly, retail establishments, restaurants, bars, performance venues, social clubs, event spaces, places of worship, health clubs, and during personal services such as hair salons, barber shops, massage/bodywork shops, and nail salons.

2.      Full vaccination against COVID-19 remains important to reduce transmission, hospitalization, and morbidity from the virus. The Board encourages all eligible persons who are not fully vaccinated to get immunized.

3.      Notwithstanding any provision in this Advisory, pursuant to guidance issued by CDC face coverings, should not be placed on a child under two years of age, anyone who has trouble breathing, anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance, or anyone who due to disability is unable to wear a mask, or has a medical exemption.

The Advisory shall be effective December 29, 2021 and remain in effect until notice is given, pursuant to the Harwich Board of Health.
